Matinee Sweater 2.0

One of these days I'll be out of this baby knits phase. One day. Probably not anytime soon - seven friends have recently announced they are all expecting. Plus, baby knits are just so darn cute, aren't they?

The newest knit is for a big sister to be. Decided I'd return to a pattern made earlier this year.

Pattern: Matinee Sweater
Needles: US size 5
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft in autumn red
Extras: 5/8 inch ribbon
Modifications: The pattern calls for fingering weight yarn, yet all I had was worsted. Discovered that measurements were correct for the largest size in terms of width when I used stitch count for the medium size, yet adjusted row counts were needed to reach length. I added a five-stitch ribbing to the sides after the ribbon holes, which reduced the curling. Also added a border similar to the top so the sweater's bottom would have more of a finished look.

If I make this again, I'll adjust the row for making the ribbon holes, since following the pattern meant ending up with an odd number. It doesn't look terrible; I just personally don't like having the ribbon coming out the front on one side and the back on the other.

I love this pattern. It makes such a sweet little sweater, and the color works nicely for both fall and the Christmas season. Heard from my friends that it fits nicely (yay!) and has already been worn for an apple picking adventure. :)

Happy knitting!

How adorable!! Love it.
